About UTokyo IPC

UTokyo IPC was established in 2016, wholly owned by the University of Tokyo as its first investment company.
Through initiatives ranging from startup creation to growth-stage support, we aim to foster the development of an innovation ecosystem originating from academia.

Supporting Startups from Creation to Growth

We are committed to the following initiatives to realize this objective.
  • Incubation Support Incubation and Acceleration
    Startup Building Program is a hands-on support program that works alongside researchers and Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIRs) to launch startups, while 1stRound is a Cross-academia Accelerator conducted in collaboration with universities and research institutions.
  • Investment Investment, Hands-on Support
    The investment business manages three funds - IPC Fund 1, AOI Fund 1 and ASA Fund - with a combined asset size of nearing JPY 60 billion.

UTokyo IPC offers two platforms

  • DeepTech Dive is a human resource matching platform run exclusively by UTokyo IPC.
    The service provides unpublicized recruitment information for positions at the startups UTokyo IPC invests in and supports, including executive positions, engineers, back-office positions and internships.
    All services are free, from registration to counseling, networking, matching and more.
  • 1st Round
    1stRound is an Acceleration program that UTokyo IPC jointly organizes with other universities.
    1stRound is an Acceleration program that supports teams and researchers take the first step in their aspiration to create startups based on academia-linked technology seeds.Applications open twice a year and the selected teams receive hands-on support from experts for half a year, startup funding and various other resources.
